Students vandalise CTEVT office over error in results
Itahari: Students of the Itahari-based Sushma Engineering College today vandalised the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) eastern regional office, accusing the college of being negligent towards their examinations and result declaration process.
Over 200 students picketed the CTEVT regional office from around 10 am alleging the office of committing serious errors in the recently published results of Computer and Civil Engineering paper.
The agitating students vandalised the office later as no staff turned up to talk to them. The students also broke furniture of the office. The protest turned ugly later with the students also manhandling a CTEVT staff. Additional police force reached the site to bring the situation under control.
“Be it examination, results or any other programme, nothing happens on time and there is a negligent approach towards everything including the question paper making process and declaring results,” lamented the students, adding, “There are many errors in the recently published results as the ones who did not even appear for the exams have passed.”
Further, students also alleged that CTEVT ignored their call for re-evaluation of the answer sheets.
“What shall we do when they are playing with our future?” asked an angry Civil Engineering student Chiranjibi Poudel, adding, “As per the CTEVT rule, the results should be published within three weeks of examinations, but we are still awaiting the result of the examination we appeared in March-April.”
The irate students also submitted a charter of demands to the office and warned they will be bound to intensify their agitation if the CTEVT authorities fail to address their demands at the earliest.
Meanwhile, CTEVT’s Itahari-based eastern region office chief Jog Narayan Yadav expressed his sadness over the students vandalising the office. “But as their demands are logical, I have forwarded it to the higher-up authorities,” he said.
