Teacher gets sack for HIV affliction
Sunsari:A school at Hansposa in Sunsari has allegedly dismissed a teacher Bijaya Agrawal for his HIV affliction.
Agrawal said Himshikhar English School suspended him for being HIV-infected when he fell unconscious in a exam hall. He also accused school principal Sailesh Puri and some other teachers of misbehaving with him, accusing him of taking drugs and beating up students.
“It is injustice to dismiss someone from his post because of his HIV affliction,” he said. “I am severely mentally disturbed after the principal mistreated me in front of students,” he added.
Ten years into this profession, Agrawal, 35, a secondary level teacher, was teaching in the school since last year. Having completed +2, he has been living with his HIV/AIDS problem for the past seven years. After being dismissed, Agrawal, who is married, is facing difficulties eking out a living. He had been getting Rs 7,500 monthly salary from the school. He has demanded compensation.
When asked, Puri said the school dismissed Agrawal for being irresponsible towards his profession.
