Technical training centre on the cards
The groundbreaking ceremony for the establishment of the Technical Training Centre at Kathmandu University (KU) was organised today in the presence of IL-Doo Kim, ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Nepal and KU vice-chancellor Prof Suresh Raj Sharma.
The Korean government will spend $4.6 million for the establishment of the Technical Training Centre at KU, Korea International Cooperation Agency said in a press statement.
It said the project covers the cost of infrastructure, equipment, machineries and human resource development.
“Initially four buildings each for automobile, general mechanical, girl’s hostel and boy’s hostel would be constructed under infrastructure at the KU central campus, Dhulikhel,” reads the statement.
The project aims to produce technical and skilled workforce to meet the need of the industrial and labour market and to provide skill-oriented training to the local underprivileged youth.
The project also aims to equip future professionals with the required practical knowledge for the development of the automobile and mechanical sector.
