Temporary teachers protest in capital
Teachers of the Kathmandu Valley organized a protest programme demanding their rights, on Sunday.
Hundreds of teachers of the valley gathered at Tundikhel in the capital and went around the town under the initiative of the Nepal Teachers Union and the Nepal Teacher's Republican Forum.
The rally converged into a corner meeting in front of the Ministry of Education at Keshar Mahal after going through Jay Nepal Hall.
The representatives and staffs of various educational organisations urged the government to fulfill the earlier agreements made with them, and warned of further agitation if the demands are not addressed.
NTU's Mohan Gyawali said the temporary teachers should be made permanent, the relief quota should he adjusted in vacancies, and free education should be made effective.
Schools of the valley were closed today as part of the protest.
