Training for Plus Two teachers and principals
The National Centre for Educational Development (NCED), an apex body of Nepal government for human resource development, is all set to provide professional capacity development training to teachers and principals of higher secondary level schools.
This is the first time NCED is providing training to teachers and principals of Grades XI and XII. Until now, NCED had only been providing training to teachers from Grade I to Grade X. The training will be provided to English and Nepali teachers and principals in the first phase.
As the School Sector Reform Plan (2009-2015) categorises school education into two levels; Basic Level (Grade I to VIII) and Secondary Level (Grade IX to XII), NCED has been forced to provide training to Plus Two level teachers.
Mitranath Gadtaula, deputy director, NCED, said they have already prepared the curriculum for the month-long training. “If everything goes well, we will begin the training from mid-November,” he said. The number of teachers and principals participating in the training this year will be determined by the regional offices located in different parts of the country, he added.
Currently, nine regional offices have been providing various trainings to school level teachers. The regional offices will provide training to Plus Two teachers of the respective districts as per their capacity. They will also inform the District Education Offices (DEO) under its territory regarding the number of teachers participating in the training.
According to Gadtaula, the DEOs will refer the names of teachers and schools to NCED based on the quota of teachers they received in the first year.
