Tribhuvan University in World University Rankings 2024 Times Higher Education
Times Higher Education has unveiled its World University Rankings for 2024, encompassing 1,904 universities from across 108 countries and regions.
Tribhuvan University, the most popular and the first national institution of higher education in Nepal, has been ranked as 1201-1500th top universities in the world as per the Times Higher Education World University Rankings in 2024. The TU has been in the University Rankings for six consecutive years. It is the only university in Nepal to make it to the World University Rankings.
Nepal's ranking has dropped this year, with Tribhuvan University ranking lower than previously. Other Nepalese universities have yet to be included in THE's World University Rankings. Tribhuvan University has been included in these rankings for the sixth year in a row, and is now ranked between 1201 and 1500. Tribhuvan University first appeared in the rankings in 2019, in the range of 801-1000. It reappeared in 2020 with a lower ranking, then rose to a ranking between 801 and 1000 in 2021. It held that position until 2022, but has since dropped to the 1201-1500 range in this year's rankings.
TU collaborates with more than 160 higher education institutions around the world.TU caters the educational needs of nearly 400,000 students through its constituent campuses, central departments and affiliated colleges across the country.The faculties include education, humanities and social sciences, law, and management.
About World University Rankings 2024
THE's 2024 World University Rankings cover 1,904 universities across 108 countries and regions, making it the largest and most diverse university ranking to date. The table has been constructed based on the newly introduced WUR 3.0 methodology, which meticulously assesses an institution's performance in five key areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry engagement, and international outlook.
The University of Oxford has clinched the top spot for an eighth consecutive year. However, there have been noteworthy shifts in the ranks within the top five. Stanford University has ascended to second place, nudging Harvard University down to fourth. Meanwhile, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has climbed two places to secure the third position. The University of Cambridge, previously sharing third place, now finds itself in fifth.
The analysis only included universities that have been ranked every year since 2019, and countries with at least 10 such universities. This year's rankings ahave been drawn from more than 134 million citations sourced from 16.5 million research publications. Additionally, the rankings incorporate valuable insights from 68,402 scholars worldwide. In total, a staggering 411,789 data points were collected from over 2,673 institutions that actively participated in the data submission process.
