TU to remain closed for a month, exam on time
Tribhuvan University today said the university would remain closed for a month but the exam of bachelor’s level third year would be conducted according to the schedule. Prof Dev Raj Adhikari, acting registrar, TU, said campus buildings and the office of the vice chancellor have been partially damaged by the April 25 quake so the varsity would remain closed to ensure students’ safety.“A meeting of the Executive Council held on May 2 decided to close colleges for a month from tomorrow and begin collecting data on the damage caused by the earthquake,” he said. “However, the exam scheduled for May 28 will be not be postponed,” he said, adding, “If the annual exam is postponed, it will affect the yearly calendar of TU.”
He stated that the campuses in the valley such as Nepal Commerce Campus, Engineering Campus, Tri-Chandra Campus and other have developed cracks due to the earthquake.He added that the varsity has already notified engineers to estimate the damage caused by the quake so that renovation works could be started at the earliest.
