UCPN-M students vandalise schools
Mahendranagar: Activists of the Unified CPN-Maoist-aligned All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union-Revolutionary today vandalised one school each in Mahendranagar and Bhimdutta Municipality for not giving donation.
District leaders of the organisation vandalised the Florida International Boarding Higher Secondary School, Mahendranagar, and Prabhat Bidhya Niketan Higher Secondary School, Bhimdutta, sources said.
School sources said that a group led by ANNISU-R Kanch-anpur district chief Chandrakant Bhatta had attacked Florida Sch-ool and District Secretary Govinda Dhant’s group had vandalised Prabhat Bidhya Niketan School.
Florida is a private school while Prabhat is public school. At Florida, members of the union ransacked two buses, a computer, Principal’s office and smashed the windowpanes.
At Prabhat, the union vandalised two computers, a telephone set and smashed a few windowpanes, said Principal Shankardutta Bhatta. He said that ANNISU-Revolutionary had sent a letter to the school demanding donation.
A source at Florida said that UCPN-Maoist-aligned students had resorted to vandalism as
the school did not donate Rs 50,000 for the organisation. Principal Nisha Bhatta said students resorted to violence after the school donated Rs 10,000.
ANNISU-Revolutionary has been collecting donation from different schools in the district for its national convention scheduled to be held in the Capital soon.
