UK edu exhibition kicks off
In a bid to provide reliable information to the students willing to pursue higher studies in the UK, a two-day education exhibition organised by British Council kicked off in the Capital on Saturday.
The event was inaugurated by Education Minister Dinanath Sharma amid a function at Everest Hotel where more than 24 renowned British universities and colleges have put up stalls.
The exhibition has been organised to promote British education and increase the understanding of the UK’s expertise in education. According to the organiser, the event is the “biggest opportunity” to have face-to-face discussions and interactions among alumni, higher education aspirants, parents, career advisers, university representatives and people from all walks of life looking to broaden their educational horizons in a modern and professional way.
The expo also aims to provide proper guidance and information on different UK universities for the Nepali students, said British Council in a press statement. Its main highlights include not just the stalls representing each university but also interactions and meetings with different representatives from host institutions and scholarship guidance as well.
The release said that the exhibition provides a full-fledged guidance on getting a UK degree and career opportunities that will enable every students to make right career choice for their future. “The main objective of the exhibition is to bridge the gap between the world renowned and recognised education opportunities and Nepali students,” said Benan McSharry, British Council country director. “British higher education offers shorter and more intensive courses that are available in many other countries.”
“It is an opportunity for Nepali students to receive the first hand information from the universities representatives themselves,” said Sumit Pokhrel, a student who visited the stalls on Saturday.
Britain is one of the major destinations for Nepali youths for higher education. According to government records, more than 10,000 Nepali students go abroad for studies every year.
