UK opens new visa application center in Kathmandu
In a bid to facilitate the Nepali applicants applying for United Kingdom (UK) visas, the UK has opened a new visa center in Kathmandu.
The UK’s ambassador to Nepal John Tucknott formally inaugurated the visa center amid a program on Friday morning, according to a joint press statement issued by the UK border Agency-South Asia and UK operations -South Asia, VFS Global.
The visa center has been established at Narayan Chaur, Naxal.
Inaugurating the center, Tucknott said, "Migration and people to people contact are important strands of the UK-Nepal relationship. Our UK visa operation support this," reads the statement.
Simon Dadd, Regional Manager UK Border agency- South Asia and Kathryn Lefrvre, the General Manager of UK operations-South Asia, VFS Global, were also present at the inaugural function.
The center is expected to offer additional facilities to the UK visa applicants.
“The new center will offer additional facilities including more submissions counters, photograph and photocopying facilities and ample parking,” said Dadd, according to the press statement.
In 2011, the UK Border Agency had processed in the region of 12,500 visas made in Nepal, of which about 80% of the applications were successful.
