Universal College of Medical Science College row persists
The dispute between students and the management of Universal College of Medical Sciences and Teaching Hospital Bhairahawa continues even after a week.
Accusing the medical college of charging exorbitant fee and not giving needful attention to the security of students and also not providing facilities, students have been protesting on the college premises for the past one week. Forming a 30-member agitating panel, the students started a relay hunger strike to put further pressure on the college management from yesterday, said Abiral Barakoti, a college student.
Today, they also sent an appeal letter to TU, Medical Council, and the Ministry of Health and Education requesting them to create conducive environment to resolve the issue.
Barakoti said the college management was not serious about their demands and had even threatened to fail them in examinations, spoil the character certificate and extend their internship term, among others.
“The college also cancelled Monday’s BDS examinations to discourage and disperse our protest.”
The college management said it had shut all teaching-learning activities and administrative work indefinitely from Monday onwards fearing violence and untoward incidents on the college premises.
