Unregistered college swindles Rs 3 mln from students
Biratnagar:A Biratnagar-based computer college has allegedly swindled students of over Rs. three million promising them Computer Engineering certificate.
Principal of Mass School of Computer Engineer based in Pipal Chowk of Biratnagar-5, Ashok Pal and his spouse Sunita Kumari Raut, have been accused of collecting over Rs. 3 million from over 70 students without registering their names at the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT).
Organising a press conference here today, victims said they spent three years at the college and gave over Rs. 70,000 per head to the Pal couple as college fees. But, they had to leave the college empty-handed as their names were not registered at the CTEVT. They have filed a case of swindling against the Pal couple at the District Police Office Morang, Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) and CTEVT.
Principal Pal is already in police detention for necessary investigation into the allegations. Police arrested him on January 5.
A student, Dipen Pal said only keeping the principal into police custody would not give justice to them, rather money they paid to him should be returned and they should be compensated for the valuable time they spent in the college.
