Education award: 13 schools to be honoured on Sept 8
Adarsha Saula Higher Secondary School and Budhanilkantha School have been selected for best school award this year.
The award, which carried a purse of Rs 200,000 and a shield will be handed over to the schools on September 8, coinciding with National Education Day as well as International Literacy Day. Adarsha Saula HSS has been selected from among community schools whereas Budhanilkantha School has been selected from among institutional schools.
According to a source at the Ministry of Education, a meeting of the School Selection Committee today decided to confer the awards on the two schools for their performance. Since the education secretary also serves as the chairman of the school management committee of Budhanilkantha School, some had aired differing views at today’s meeting regarding its selection for the award.
Besides, Adarsha Saula HSS and Budhanilkantha School, five schools from five development regions will be awarded with Regional Education Award. Siddhikali Higher Secondary School, Terhathum, Balambu Secondary School, Thankot, Satyabati Secondary School, Damauli, Malika Secondary School, Jumla and Jaya Prakash Secondary School, Bajura, have been selected from among community schools for Regional Education Award this year. Similarly, Everest English Boarding School, Nightingale Higher Secondary School, Lalitpur, Gandaki Boarding School, Pokhara, Tulsi Boarding Secondary School, Tulsipur and International Public School, Mahendranagar, have been selected from among institutional schools for Regional Education Award. Regional Education Award carries a purse of Rs 100,000 and a shield.
Pandav Gufa Higher Secondary School in Jumla will also receive an award for the best school in rural area and will get Rs 100,000 and a shield.
The schools have been selected on the basis of SLC results, student-teacher ratio and physical infrastructure.
