Education Day: Prez awards excellent students
President Ram Baran Yadav has conferred the Nepal Bidya Bhushan medals and the Nepal Chhatra Bidya medals on students with outstanding performance on Monday.
At a special programme organised by the Ministry of Education at Sheetal Niwas today on the occasion of the 35th National Education Day and International Literacy Day, President Yadav presented the medals and certificates to 297 students, including those completing PhD from different universities in and out of the country and those securing highest marks with outstanding performance in different levels.
On the occasion, 175 PhD holders were awarded the Nepal Bidya Bhushan Class 'A' medals and certificates.
Similarly, Nepal Bidya Bhushan Class 'B' medals were presented to 62 students completing Master's degrees and the Nepal Bidya Bhushan Class 'C' medals to 20 students completing the Bachelor's degrees under different faculties.
President Yadav conferred the Nepal Chhatraa Bidya medals on 26 girl students scoring the highest in the Bachelor's level and on 14 students topping the Certificate level under different faculties.
The students were recommended by the Education Ministry.
Meanwhile, addressing the function, President Yadav asked PhD holders and students securing highest mark in different faculties of universities to show their capability to fulfill their responsibility towards the illiterate Nepali people.
He also expressed his confidence that the awarded students with self-confidence and hard work would engage to change the possibilities into reality for development of the country.
Present on the occasion were Vice-President Paramanand Jha, Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Subas Chandra Nembang, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development, Prakashman Singh, Minister for Education Chitra Lekha Yadav and high-officials of the government.
The National Education Day is being marked under the slogan "Capable Teachers, Quality Education: Literacy and Education with Technology for Prosperity."
