Pathivara Campus closed since four days
Taplejung: Classes at the Pathivara Multiple Campus in the district headquarters, Phungling, have remained closed since the last four days.
Students have boycotted classes since Sunday in protest against the hike in the tuition fees. They have alleged that the campus administration has not given heed to their demands.
Although the striking students unions and the campus administration have held talks on resolving the problem, they could not reach agreement on the issue of withdrawing the fee hike.
Among the demands put forth by the student unions are reducing the tuition fee, constituting a new board of directors of the campus, improving the library management and providing sports facilities and goods.
The campus administration´s version is that since the campus tuition fees were hiked in tune with the time, they could not decrease it. The students have warned of more stringent protests if their demands are not met.
