Salyan kids asking 'where's my book'
Rukum: ‘Education is the fundamental right of children’ or ‘Education for all’ — the government pledges of the sort have become nothing but a sham for students of Salyan district.
Four months have elapsed since the academic session for the year started, but students in the district have been forced to twiddle thumbs for they are yet to receive the whole set of school textbooks. Classes have been adversely affected in several schools in the district. Students of lower secondary and secondary level have been prescribed textbooks printed and published by the Sajha Prakashan, but they are still waiting as the Sajha Prakashan has failed to dispatch the consignment to the district.
Textbooks of geography, economics and health for secondary level and mathematics, English and vocational subjects for lower secondary level are yet to arrive, said Nabin Basnet, an eighth grader.
