Scholarship to students of Muslim minorities
Gorkha: Scholarship amount has been distributed to 23 students belonging to Muslim minorities in Gorkha district.
The scholarship was offered to Muslim students pursuing education in different parts of the country on a condition that the recipients should be the permanent resident of Gorkha.
The scholarship was distributed from the grant the Medhesi, Muslim and Backward Uplift Fund received under the Federation of Backward Groups.
Total Rs 50,000 was distributed to the students including eight girls as a scholarship. Each student received Rs 2,174 as scholarship amount.
According to a member of the Muslim Community Raham Tulla Miya, of Rs. 500,000 released to the District Development Committee (DDC) from the Local Development Ministry, Rs 200,000 was spent for developing physical infrastructure to make Madarasa child friendly.
Likewise, Rs 31,000 was provided to a Madarasa situated in the municipality and Rs 13,000 each to 13 Mudarasas operated at different places in the district.
Similarly, Rs 40,000 was distributed to 16 poor, helpless and single women for the purpose of income generation while some amount was also provided for the maintenance of Mosques at Arsapani in Taple and Pokhari Pata of Ashrang.
