Scholarships for NATHM female achievers
Three top scoring female achievers of Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM) were presented with The Princess Jayanti Achievement Award on Monday at Hotel de l’ Annapurna. This year’s recipients were first-year student Shivani Shah, second-year student Archana Thapa Magar and third-year student Asmita Giri of the Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management program.
For the past 12 years, The Princess Jayanti Achievement Award has been organized jointly by Hotel Annapurna and The Jayanti Memorial Trust wherein undergraduate female students at NATHM have been awarded with scholarships.While Shivani Shah and Archana Thapa Magar were each presented with a silver coin, Asmita Giri was presented with a gold medal. All three students were also awarded with certificates and a cash prize of Rs 40,000 each.
The event began with Bhim Acharya, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, and Shreejana Rana, Director CSR and R&D, Hotel Annapurna, lighting the panas.
Congratulating the students, Shreejana Rana, shared a few words of advice with them: “I was once exactly where you are because I was also a hotel management student. This is a critical sector of our country’s economy and NATHM holds a proud record of professionally trained students. Be curious, take risks, minimize your weaknesses and maximize your strengths, and never rest easy thinking your job is secure.”
She added that the government should monitor hotel management institutes to ensure that the promises in the glossy college brochures are fulfilled.
