Students of Mid-western University concerned after CIAA suspends senior officials
SURKHET, Aug 8: Students in the Mid-Western University are concerned after the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) directed suspending the senior officials and other staffers at the University.
The students studying in different faculties under the University have expressed their concern for their future after the CIAA issued directives to suspend the Vice-chancellor, the Registrar, the Dean, and some staffs and university teachers.
The CIAA on August 5 and 6 wrote to the government asking them to suspend the varsity officials after complaints were filed against them from various quarters regarding the abuse of authority and financial irregularities. The CIAA called for their suspension as keeping them in their posts while investigation is on against them may influence the investigation process.
However, the CIAA has also urged the government to make necessary arrangements to run daily administrative and academic activities and conducting the examinations as scheduled in the University calendar managed by the Mid-Western University Act-2067.
With the CIAA direction, the University students have been concerned as future of as many as 1,200 students has become uncertain, said Keshav Shahi, the Free Students´ Union of the Birendranagar Multiple Campus that was merged with the University.
