Vacancy notice:
Position: National Governance Adviser
DFID Nepal requires an experienced Governance Adviser to lead programmes that directly support improved governance, and provide advice to DFID Nepal on the wider political and governance context in which DFID’s work takes place.
The job holder will contribute to DFID’s objective of supporting development of a more capable, accountable and responsive state, at both national and local levels. They will formally report to the DFID Nepal International Governance Adviser responsible for public sector governance, but will also work closely with the Governance and Service Delivery Team Leader.
Purpose of job
The job holder will contribute to DFID’s objective of supporting development of a more capable, accountable and responsive state, at both national and local levels. He/she will achieve this by working in three main areas:
1.Leading DFID’s oversight of the Governance Facility (see http://gfnepal.org/ ) and taking forward plans to develop future programming on key governance issues
2.Providing specialist support to DFID’s sub-national governance programming and advising the office on opportunities and risks arising from the ongoing federal transition and implementation of the constitution
3.Advising the wider office, including the Head of Office directly, on key political and governance issues, helping to ensure the UK is a well-informed and constructive partner in Nepal’s development
