Dr KC breaks his fast
Dr Govinda KC , who had been staging a hunger strike for the past 14 days, broke his huner strike on Friday by drinking juice offered by a seven-year old patient at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu.
Earlier on Thursday night, a meeting of government secretaries designated to hold talks with agitating doctors who had halted services in hospitals to express solidarity with Dr KC's strike had reached an agreement to address three out of seven demands.
In an attempt to break Dr KC’s fast protest, the Tribhuvan University had sacked newly appointed IoM Dean Dr Sashi Sharma under the government instruction on Wednesday, but he refused to oblige, saying that he would continue the struggle until a new dean is appointed.
