Student unions demand review of fee structure
Surkhet: Various students have warned of protests against the Mid-western University demanding the university revise its fee structure. Issuing a press joint press statement on Sunday.
Nepal Student Union, All Nepal Student Union, Nepal Revolutionary Students Union, among others, have accused the university of fixing tuition fees higher than other universities.
While the Tribhuvan University affiliated Birendranagar Multiple Campus charges Rs 14,500 for BBS and BA courses, the Mid-western University has fixed Rs 49,000 and Rs 44,000 for BBS and BA courses respectively.
Similarly, MA and MBS courses offered by the university are two times higher than the fee charged by Birendranagar Multiple Campus. The Mid-western university has claimed that the tuition fee is higher because the university runs semester-wise academic calendar.
“The education in our university will be employment oriented and there will not be any delay in the publication of results,” said dean of the Mid-western University Pitambar Dhakal.
