Traffic Safety Awareness Campaign held
Transportation Engineer Ashish Gajurel today initiated Traffic Safety Awareness Campaign 2012 targeting school students by demonstrating basic traffic safety measures at Shankhamul-based Gyan Niketan Higher Secondary School.
Gajurel, who is a postgraduate in MSc in transportation engineering from Germany, made a presentation on pedestrian safety, zebra crossings, overhead bridges, traffic lights and use of footpaths to hundreds of students.
“The purpose behind the campaign is to educate children about the benefits of following traffic rules and regulations,” Gajurel said.
Gajurel wants to cover all the schools in the Valley in future.
Several fatal accidents in our city can be prevented by following traffic rules, he said. He reinforced the need of traffic education from primary level as is done in Holland.
