TU convocation in May

The Tribhuvan University has decided to conduct its 37 convocation ceremony by the end of May. The university assembly meeting on Wednesday approved a grace list of students.
The convocation scheduled for November last year was postponed as the university could not hold its assembly meeting on time. According to the TU regulations, the assembly needs to approve the grace list of the students willing to participate in the programme and call for participation based on the approval one month before the convocation date. The meeting approved the grace list of 38,868 presented by Registrar Chandra Mani Poudel. Those who graduated from TU between July 1, 2010 and May 31, 2011 are eligible to participate in the convocation. According to Poudel, the ceremony has been scheduled for May last as TU needs two months to prepare gowns (special dresses worn by graduates during the convocation) and ready the required certificates.
The assembly could not endorse budget owing to time constrain. It has spent millions of rupees without endorsing budget of this fiscal—Rs 3 billion in advance budget in development and recurrent expenditures.
