TU promotes students to upper level without examinations
Sept. 4: As there is no certainty about holding the examination amid the coronavirus scare, many faculties of Tribhuvan University (TU) have started virtual classes of semester system by promoting the students to the upper semester without taking examinations.
Many faculties of TU have started to conduct virtual classes rather than conducting examinations amid risk after the varsity asked its concerned dean offices and faculties not to halt academic activities even if the university failed to conduct examinations.
Prof. Dr. Shivlal Bhusal, rector of the varsity, said that the TU was still in a state of wait and see to conduct the examinations as it is very hard to manage the examinations in such a critical situation because of the huge number of students many of whom lack access to technologies.

According to Bhusal, all classes of semester system are now going on smoothly after it decided to run classes by upgrading the students. He also added that the process had begun to run the classes of annual system in the virtual mode.
Prof. Dr. Sushil Bahadur Bajrachaya, assistant dean of Institute of Engineering, Pulchok, said the IOE had announced the new semester from August 17 to December 15 with a decision to conduct both semesters’ examinations after that.
According to Bajracharya, about 17,000 students under IOE are now taking virtual classes after being promoted to the next semester.
