The National Information Commission (NIC) which is an independent statutory body has worked since 2008 for the protection, promotion and enforcement of the Right to Information (RTI) Act in Nepal. The five-year National Strategic Plan of Action on RTI (2013-2018) guides NIC’s interventions and priorities for developing capacities, creating an enabling environment for RTI implementation and promoting responsive stakeholders.
NIC is currently implementing a project entitled SUCHANA-II: Support to Championing National Capacity for Right to Information in Nepal, supported by the Governance Facility.The main objective of the project is to support all Ministries, Commissions and Departments of Government of Nepal for positively responding to citizens’ demands for information and practice proactive disclosure. The project builds on the past achievements of NIC’s project SUCAHNA, also GF-funded, in relation to, among others, establishing integrated RTI management information system (MIS) inline agencies in selected districts, strengthening oversight of NIC and enhancing capacity of Public Information Officers (PlOs).
To meet this objective, SUCHANA-Il project is seeking to recruit professional, dynamic, self-motivated and result-oriented candidates for the following positions:
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (IT SPECIALIST)
The IT Specialist will work under the direct supervision of the Project Manager (PM). S/he will be responsible to implement plan of action on information system of NIC within the project scope and support public offices to integrate and manage MIS into their systems.
Required qualifications and experiences:
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree/preferred Master’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering or related field with at least 3-5 years’ experience in the Information Technology and Computer applications.
Required skills:
> Strong computer skills and demonstrated ability to use MS Office Suite, strong verbal and written communication skills in English so as to develop, write and edit various reports.
> Level, location and duration: A mid-level position based in Kathmandu with frequent travel. Contract duration will be 1 year with possibility of extension.
MESSENGER/RUNNER
> The Messenger/Runner will work on direct supervision of Admin/Finance Officer under the overall guidance of Project Manager. The Messenger/Runner will be responsible for day to day work of the project and for timely delivery of letters, documents to the concerned authority/persons and keep records and report to AFO.
> Required qualifications and experiences:
> Minimum SLC level with at least 2 years of working experience in any reputed organization preferably government ministries and departments, development projects etc.
Required skills:
> Must be able to read and writeNepali and English.
> Level, location and duration: An entry-level position based in Kathmandu. Contract duration will be 1 year with possibility of extension.
DRIVER
> The driver will work on direct supervision of Admin/Finance Officer under the overall guidance of Project Manager. The driver will be responsible to ensure smooth and safe driving and maintenance of office vehicle.
> Required qualifications and experiences:
> Must hold a valid driving license for cars/jeeps and motorcycles with a minimum of 5 years driving experience on both all-weather roads.
Required skills:
> Must be able to read and write Nepali and English. Priority will be given to local candidate with the working experiences in the development projects.
> Level, location and duration:
> An entry-level position based in Kathmandu with frequent travel. Contract duration will be 1 year with possibility of extension.
