Job Description
Strengthening Urban Preparedness, Earthquake Preparedness and Response (SUPER) programme is continuation of the Comprehensive Disaster Risk Management Programme (CDRMP) which was formulated as part of the Strategic Partnership Framework signed between the Bureau for Crisis Prevention and Recovery (BCPR) and UNDP. SUPER programme aims to strengthen the institutional and legislative aspects of disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) in Nepal, by building the capacities of Ministry of Home Affairs, other ministries, and local governments. It also establishes strategic linkages between DRRM and development sectors. The programme’s intervention in the area of DRRM, building code, risk sensitive land use plan (RSLUP), safer construction practices, climate risk management, community-based disaster risk management, and emergency preparedness and response aims to strengthen the overall system of disaster risk management in Nepal.
The main objective of this position is to coordinate and liaise with the Government of Nepal on Disaster risk reduction, preparedness, response and recovery issues. It includes periodic meeting with concerned ministries including NDRRMA/MoHA and MoFAGA. UNDP is co-lead of the Early Recovery Cluster and the Project Analyst-Liaison will be the Early Recovery Coordinator. The selected personnel will be responsible for providing technical inputs as well as inputs on GEDSI considerations in DRRM.
