The UNITED STATES EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION IN NEPAL is seeking a: Program Officer.
The full-time position of Program Officer at the USEF/Fulbright Commission in Nepal requires participation in the planning, implementation and management of activities geared toward fulfilling the Commission’s objectives and goals, including the Fulbright English Teaching Assistant, Fulbright Foreign Student, and other scholarship programs. The Program Officer coordinates these activities with, and reports directly to the Commission’s Executive Director. The position’s duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
> Monitor, participate and follow-up the U.S. and Nepali Fulbright programs, including publicity, pre- selection and selection procedures.
> Advise incoming US grantees and outgoing Nepali grantees on academic and cultural adjustment problems, pre-arrival and departure arrangements, university applications and affiliations, travel arrangements, orientation, visas, housing, reports, etc.
> Maintain a close working relationship with all Nepali and American agencies and institutions associated with the Fulbright program and the Commission.
> Assist the Executive Director and the Senior Program Officer in the preparation and monitoring of grantee program budgets, yearly program plans, annual reports and other publications.
> Represent the Commission at all conferences, seminars or workshops, as required.
The ideal candidate will have:
> In-depth knowledge of the American and Nepali higher educational systems;
> At least a master’s degree, preferably from a well-known U.S. university or college;
> At least five years of post-graduate professional and managerial experience and a proven track record of organizational and supervisory skills;
> Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel, e-mail applications and Internet use; and
> Imagination, energy, maturity and initiative;
> Nepali citizenship, with excellent interpersonal, verbal and writing skills in English and Nepali
