Organizational Background
Conflict Victim Women National Network (CVWN) is a non-government and nonprofit making organization officially registered at the District Administration Office, Kathmandu in 2020. The organization is committed to advancing transitional justice, sustainable peace, and empowering women for self-reliant and economic development according to the constitution, national policies, and international commitment i.e. UDHR, CEDAW, SDG, UNCRC, etc.
1. Program Officer- 1 position
- CVWN is announcing a vacancy for the position of Program Officer. The employee will be stationed at CVWN’s central office, Kathmandu, and have partial visits to project areas.
The structural issues of class divisions, gender inequality, the huge gap between rich and poor, caste-based discrimination, gender-based violence, and marginalization of indigenous groups were taken up by the then Maoist party to fuel the armed conflict. The decade-long armed conflict ended with a political peace agreement in 2006. Even after 14 years of signing the Comprehensive Peace Accord, these structural issues remain.
Crucial intervention is required to support these women in their physical, social and psychological well-being to heal their grievances and injustices. Safe spaces, social initiatives, and economic opportunities are needed to establish them in their respective communities and to build their movement. The intervention started from October 2021 to September 2023.
Essential criteria for the position are mentioned below:
> Assist the Program Manager in planning, implementing, and evaluating an overall program of CVWN.
> Regular correspondence with district chapters of CVWN mostly District Coordinators, Peace Facilitators, and Psychosocial Counsellors to collect implementation progress of the project activities, segregated data for the Performance Indicator Tracking Sheet (PITT), and capacitating them by providing orientation.
> Ensure the programs are carried out according to the organizational values and according to donor requirements.
> Draft proposals, concept notes, training, and program planning.
> Regular communication with partner organizations to share project updates.
> Take a charge of all the programmatic reports by ensuring quality reports, meeting decisions, and other donor requirements meeting deadlines.
> Participate and represent CVWN by ensuring its advocacy to build momentum for a favorable policy environment.
> Timely submit programmatic reports to the Program Manager for review.
> Encourage district chapters of CVWN to develop to organize events/programs.
> Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, the media, funders, and other donor agencies.
Additionally, the employee will
> Support designing advocacy strategies, tools, and organizational engagement plans in collaboration with the project team and take the support of the advocacy unit in the organization.
> Conduct in-depth analysis of laws, programs, policies, and regulations related to transitional justice and advocacy issues at the federal level.
> Develop strategic partnerships with national and international partners and strengthen avenues for collaboration.
> Regular communication with high-level government authorities and concerned stakeholders.
> Coordinate and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to highlight transitional justice issues.
> Develop advocacy letters on pertinent issues relating to transitional justice, and justice mechanisms and form delegations to stakeholders.
> Follow up with government authorities and other concerned stakeholders.
> Field visits in the target areas of CVWN and collects evidence that reflects the content and local context.
> Provide capacity-building pieces of training on advocacy to CVWN, preparation of annual, semi- annual periodic, and event reports.
> Support for the development of information education and communication materials.
Qualifications and Experience
> Master’s Degree or equivalent in human rights, international relations, law, disability, social work, or any other related field.
> A minimum of 4 years of experience in carrying out advocacy initiatives at the federal/provincial government authorities.
> Excellent understanding of human rights-based approach and familiarity with core international human rights treaties including CEDAW, CRC, etc.
> Have a proven experience in project management in the field of social development.
> Demonstrated commitment to working with and in law or disability women’s rights preferably with familiarity on key issues in transitional justice and justice mechanism.
> Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and public relations skills in both English and Nepali and including writing for expert and general audiences and public speaking.
> Ability to use initiative, prioritize, multi-task and work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
> A creative and out-of-the-box thinker, with a demonstrated track record of analytic problem-solving/seeking solutions to challenges.
> Well-versed in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
> Have a great capacity for organization, synthesis, and report writing.
> Having a two-wheeler driving license will be added value.
Packages and Benefits:
The basic salary for the position is NPR 50,000 (including provident fund, and festival allowances) and medical and health insurance will be done by the organization.
2. Psychosocial Counsellors- 2 positions (Jajarkot and Ramechhap)
CVWN is announcing a vacancy for the position of Psychosocial Counsellors for the Jajarkot and
Ramechhap districts. The employees will be based in the field offices of respective districts and have partial visits to project areas. The candidates having at least six months of psychosocial training will be qualified for the positions.
Packages and Benefits:
The basic salary for the position is NPR 20,000 (including provident fund, and festival allowances) and medical and health insurance will be done by the organization.
Specifications
> The candidate must have an intermediate or bachelor’s degree in any discipline along with six- month psychosocial counseling training and work-related experience.
> Able to work in a multicultural environment.
> Perform life skills, basic counseling services, and follow-up cases under the supervision of a Psychosocial Counselor in Kathmandu.
> Able to make field visits frequently within and out of the main duty station as required by the project’s activities.
> Sound knowledge and skills of the computer, email, and internet. Able to prepare reports in Microsoft word and excel and submit them to the project focal person.
> Proficiency in English, Nepali, and local language in both written and spoken.
Job Description
> Undertake vulnerability assessments, provide appropriate psychosocial intervention to conflict victim women, single women, caregivers, and service seekers, and make referrals for further support.
> Conduct psychosocial group interventions and provide focused psychosocial support to clients in need.
> Conduct community-based psychosocial orientation and sensitization programs for targeted communities
> Maintain case documentation.
> Participate in project coordination meetings and weekly peer supervision and support meetings.
> Make frequent field visits for case identification and provide essential psychosocial support.
> Advocate for the promotion of psychosocial support activities with local governments and other stakeholders.
> Follow the inputs and additional responsibilities provided by the Psychosocial Counselor based in Kathmandu when it comes to the strategic benefits of the project.
